All our multi-storey car parks and underground car parks are open around the clock.
How long are PMG's multi-storey car parks open for?
I have entered the multi-storey car park, but cannot find a parking space. Why can that happen? How do I get out again free-of-charge?
Every car that enters and exits is recorded via inductive loops and is immediately included in the count for the available=green or red=occupied display at the entrance. The count also takes account of a quota for our long-term parkers, who are entitled to an available parking space in the period that they have rented with us. A technical fault during the count is possible, but highly unlikely. It is usually due to the parking behaviour of individual customers, who park in a way that makes it scarcely possible for other customers to use the parking spaces next to them. We apologize for this and any technical fault. Please immediately drive back to the exit and insert the ticket you took at the entrance shortly beforehand into the "Ticket" slot at the exit terminal. You can exit free of charge within the grace period.
Is there a minimum or maximum parking period?
Are there video cameras in the PMG multi-storey car parks? If yes, where and why?
Cameras are installed at all entrances and exits as well as at all our pay stations. These can be activated by our staff in our service centre in the CityPort multi-storey car park, which is staffed around the clock. All PMG's 22 multi-storey car parks are managed from within this centre. The service staff can provide better assistance to you as a customer, using a camera image, if you seek to contact us for assistance or information via the information button at any entrance and exit as well as the pay stations.
The cameras supplement, as required, the voice communications with you during customer contact.
Is there video surveillance of the multi-storey car park that I will be using, for my safety and the safety of my car?
Video surveillance throughout the multi-storey car park is not possible, either in technical terms or in respect of data protection law. Permanent cameras are installed at all entrances and exits as well as pay stations to enable our service staff to provide better assistance if you seek contact via the information button and need assistance or information. Many of our multi-storey car parks have telephone points clearly marked in red and labelled "Emergency Call". You can trigger these emergency calls by pressing a button. A warning signal sounds, our service centre immediately receives a camera image and a voice communication is established with you via loudspeakers. This technology is serviced on a regular basis. Our technicians make inspection tours of the multi-storey car parks at regular intervals around the clock. They ensure, in particular, that lighting and cleanliness are always good. That is very important to us for your safety.
Which multi-storey car park do I use in order to be just a short walk away from my destination in Mainz?
Open the overview map on our PMG website and choose the PMG multi-storey car park closest to your destination.
Why should I park in one of your multi-storey car parks instead of at the roadside?
You will always find a parking space in one of our multi-storey car parks. The parking guidance system will display the nearest available multi-storey car park. This will save you time in looking for a parking space. Nor do you need to decide, at the very start of parking in our multi-storey car parks, how long you want to park for. That gives you flexibility.
Furthermore, taking a stroll in Mainz city centre and old town is so stress-free, because the pedestrian zone is so expansive and beautiful without parked cars.
How does the parking guidance system in Mainz work? What do I need to pay attention to?
The city of Mainz is the operator and owner of a dynamic parking guidance system in the public transport sector. Available=green and occupied=red displays indicate the occupancy of all multi-storey car parks and parking spaces. For you as a car driver, it is a good information system, enabling you to get an early overview of the current parking space situation at your preferred destination and, if necessary, to be shown alternatives nearby. You save yourself time and you save the environment traffic searching for a parking space. Please also remember that every car park ticket from PMG allows you to transfer, free of charge for 12 hours, to the entire urban route network of Mainzer Verkehrsgesellschaft with up to 4 accompanying persons. This should make the multi-storey car parks on the edge of the city centre, which are usually also lower-priced, attractive to you.
I drive a Range Rover. What are the entrance heights of your multi-storey car parks?
Please click the individual multi-storey car parks on our website, using the "Entrance height" reference. This will give you the entrance height of each individual multi-storey car park.
Please also heed the entrance height signage immediately at the entrance of the multi-storey car park that you choose.
How much does it cost to park in a PMG multi-storey car park?
Click on the individual multi-storey car parks. You will find the tariff of the desired multi-storey car park here.
How long is the grace period from paying at the pay station until exiting?
The grace period between payment at the pay station and your exit at the barrier is adequately matched to the size of the multi-storey car park, including walking and driving distances. If the grace period has been exceeded, a corresponding message "Additional payment required" is displayed on the exit terminal. You can make this payment using your EC/credit card at the exit terminal or at the pay station. In the event, however, of a circumstance beyond your control, such as a tailback of numerous cars at the exit, please use the information button to report to our service centre, which is staffed around the clock. The service staff will provide you with assistance.
Can the parking rate have been incorrectly calculated?
As our equipment at the entrance and at the pay station operate synchronously, an incorrect calculation is impossible. If, for example, the time at the entrance is 12 noon, the time at the pay station will likewise be 12 noon. As the time displayed on our devices is device time set manually by us, this time does not necessarily need to be the same as the radio or satellite time displayed on your watch. In other words, these times may vary by a few minutes.
Why do I, as a mobility-impaired person, need to pay in your multi-storey car parks?
Because Parken in Mainz GmbH is operated under private law and economic criteria and the payment obligation for the service utilized applies to every user, as is the case in all private-law companies. PMG has set up separate parking bays, in every multi-storey or other car park, for exceptionally mobility-impaired persons that have an ID card.
Who actually fills his pockets with the parking charges in Mainz?
No one. Parken in Mainz GmbH is a company close to the city, which invests its revenues in the renovation, development and reconstruction of parking properties. Investments, in other words, which benefit you as a customer in the form of a sufficient number of clean, bright, 24-hour multi-storey car parks densely distributed across the entire urban area. The PMG parking network uses a dynamic parking guidance system to guide traffic flows and offers stationary traffic in the city around 10,000 parking spaces in more than 20 parking properties. Around 3,000 parking spaces are in multi-storey car parks in the middle of the city centre, approx. 300 metres away from the cathedral and market place and from the generously appointed pedestrian zone housing all the large and small city centre shops.
Parking charges are determined, in principle, on a market-oriented basis, geared to forecast future user requirements, and according to economic criteria. The constant review and optimization of our offers play an important role.
PMG is currently investing around 3.5 billion euro in the renovation of its car park real estate.
What options do I have for paying my parking charge?
You can pay in cash at any pay station. Please note that our pay stations do not accept bank notes higher than €20.
You can use EC and credit card to pay at any pay station and any exit barrier. If you use your EC or credit card, you will receive a 10% discount on your parking charge.
What do I do if I have lost my car park ticket?
Press the information button at the pay station of the multi-storey car park. A member of staff in our service centre, which is staffed around the clock, will take your call and assist you.
I have not received a receipt. What shall I do?
You can use the information button to contact our service centre, which is staffed around the clock, directly from the pay station or exit terminal. The service staff will provide you with assistance. If you may have forgotten to press the "Receipt" button before paying and need the receipt immediately, our service staff will ask you to go to another pay station close by in the multi-storey car park. At this pay station, first press the receipt button and then insert your paid ticket into the slot. You will now receive a receipt.
We will also be pleased to send you a receipt. In this case, please use the voice communication system to leave your name and address with our service staff immediately after your payment transaction. We will then send you the receipt.
You can, of course, also contact us promptly in writing, giving your parking duration, the multi-storey car park, the amount and your contact details. Our address is: Parken in Mainz GmbH, Hechtsheimer Str.37, 55131 Mainz.
Our e-mail is: email@example.com. Our fax number is: 06131-9520120.
Parking using EC or credit card guarantees me a 10% discount – how does this work?
When entering and exiting, do not take a ticket, but insert your card into the card slot. At the exit, insert the same card that you used when entering into the card slot. You will automatically obtain a receipt at the exit. Please take this, and the barrier will then open. The parking charge minus 10% discount will be debited from your account.
The 10% discount also applies if you pay for a ticket taken at the entrance using EC or credit card at the pay station.
What does the "Card not allowed" or "Card not readable" message on the entrance terminal's display mean?
The "not allowed" or "not readable" error message means that the card has been introduced incorrectly, with the magnetic strip not on the bottom right.
What happens to my data if I park at PMG using my EC or credit card?
You do not enter a pin code but, by using your card, you authorize your bank to pay the parking charge to us. PMG does not acquire knowledge of your bank sort code, your account number or your name.
The itemizations or collective statements of direct debit collections on your bank statement will show the parking charge, indicating the date, the parking period and the multi-storey car park in which you parked using your EC or credit card.
The 10% discount for card parking will automatically have been deducted from the parking charge.
I had parked using my EC or credit card and was now forced to realize that my bank was unable to carry out the transfer. Whom do I contact?
Please call the PMG team in the Commercial Department on 06131-9520152.
We will sort out the subsequent payment of your parking charge together with you.
As we do not know your account number or your name, we cannot remind you of the outstanding payment.
If the outstanding receivable is not settled by you or your bank within 8 weeks, PMG will instruct a collection agency to carry out the relevant investigation. The costs will be borne by you. These will be much higher than your original parking charge.
What is a PMG cheque card and how do I obtain and use it to receive the 10% discount for card parking?
You can obtain the PMG cheque card via a charge-free contract with PMG, which authorizes PMG to debit the actually incurred parking charges on a monthly basis from your account. You will receive a 10% discount on any parking charge incurred.
The PMG cheque card may be terminated 14 days to the end of a month; otherwise, it is valid for an indefinite period. You can view and print the contract at www.parken-in-mainz.de. The contract can be entered into as of the 1st and 15th of any month.
This offer is particularly attractive to companies, as the PMG cheque card can be used by any employee, as required, and the employer automatically receives proof, via the debit account, of when and where the parking act took place and how much it cost.
What is a pre-paid parking card and how do I obtain and use it to receive the 10% discount for card parking?
The PMG pre-paid parking card has a credit balance, which you can reload in 5-euro increments at any pay station at any time.
You use the pre-paid parking card directly on entry and exit by inserting the card into the slot – magnetic strip bottom right. The balance remaining is displayed on entering and exiting the car park. When exiting, you will receive a receipt in respect of the parking act, which you will need to take before the barrier opens.
You will receive a 10% discount on your parking charge.
You can get your first pre-paid parking card for loading at one of our pay stations free-of-charge from our 24-hour service centre in the CityPort multi-storey car park, Binger Straße 19, 55131 Mainz, telephone: 06131-238108.
When loading the pre-paid parking card with a credit of your choice in £5 increments at a pay station, you will receive a receipt. Please store this receipt carefully after you exit: it is the receipt for the parking charge paid in advance and hence your proof of having made the payment.
Can I use the credit on more than one pre-paid parking card to pay for a parking act?
Yes. If you discover when exiting that your credit on the prepaid parking card used when entering the car park is no longer sufficient for paying for the parking act, you can insert one or more previously acquired pre-paid parking cards successively in order to make payment.
This also applies to using pre-paid parking cards to pay at a pay station.
You can also use your EC card to make a residual payment after using a pre-paid parking card.
I need to stay as an in-patient at the university hospitals in Mainz and will be travelling there by car. Where can I park at low cost?
In the Augustusplatz multi-storey car park right next to the university hospitals.
As a patient, please have a certificate of your in-patient stay issued by the relevant specialist hospital. By presenting this certificate, you can acquire a ticket for a ten-day parking period in the Augustusplatz multi-storey car park from the PMG service station at the university hospital against a cash payment of €22 or €30. The 10-day ticket for €22 is a one-exit ticket; in other words, it allows you to exit once, after no more than 10 days. You can also activate this ticket at a pay station; please use the information button at the pay station to contact our staff in our 24-hour service centre. The ticket for the price of €30 includes any number of entries and exits within 10 days and can be obtained from our service station at the university hospitals.
The PMG service station at the university hospitals is immediately on the left of the main entrance to the core site, approaching from Langenbeckstraße. Our opening times are: Weekdays, Monday to Friday, from 6am to 10.15pm. You can contact our service staff by telephone on 06131-175919.
I have the European identity card for the disabled with the additional specification "exceptionally mobility-impaired 100%" or "blind" and often need to go to the university hospitals for treatment. Can I park free at the university hospitals?
Yes, disabled persons with the additional specification "exceptionally mobility-impaired 100%", "blind" and the blue European identity card for the disabled can park free for up to 12 hours after entry on the core site and the underground car park of the University Medical Centre. This also applies if the vehicle is being driven by an accompanying person, but the disabled person, i.e. the holder of the identity card for the disabled, must be present in the vehicle.
And this is how it works: You take a ticket at the entrance. When exiting the site, please drive to the left-hand side of the main exit to Langenbeckstraße. Please now use the information button to report to our service staff and show your identity card for the disabled via the camera installed at this exit. After this check, PMG will open the barrier. Neither you nor your accompanying person needs to leave your vehicle.
Where can I rent a parking space?
Virtually all multi-storey car parks have parking spaces available for indefinite rental. The PMG team will be pleased to advise you on 06131-9520152 from 6am to 4pm, Monday to Friday. You can find advance information about the position of the multi-storey car parks, time zones and rates for your desired rental on our homepage: www.parken-in-mainz.de, please click on Long-Term Parkers.

Rental may commence on the 1st and 15th of any month. You can always terminate 14 days to the end of a month, which means that you are very flexible. The rent for the parking space of your choice will be debited by us using only the SEPA Core Direct Debit Scheme. You can also contact the PMG team in all matters pertaining to offers for long-term parkers at the following e-mail address: firstname.lastname@example.org.
How can I save with a long-term rental agreement as a long-term parker?
We offer annual rental agreements. You pay for 10 months and park for 12. You pay the annual rental charge in one amount in advance. The notice period is 1 month to the end of the rental period after one year; otherwise, the rental is extended for a further year. The time zones for annual rental agreements are 6am to 7.30pm and around the clock. Please call the PMG team on 06131-9520152 from 8am to 4pm, Monday to Friday. We will be pleased to advise you.
Will I receive a monthly invoice for the long-term parking space that I rent?
No, your payment is based on the long-term rental agreement. On your initiative, you can, at the end of the year, obtain a free parking charge certificate for the past year from us.
If you wish to have a monthly invoice, please say so when you enter into the contract.
I have a new address or bank details. Do I need to inform you about this?
Yes, definitely. And please send the details in writing, quoting your contract number, to: Parken in Mainz GmbH, Hechtsheimer Straße 37, 55131 Mainz. You can also e-mail them at: email@example.com. For your security, we would not like to take changes to your important personal data over the telephone in order to avoid misunderstandings and transmission errors.
I have a new car or a new registration number. Do you need this information?
My long-term parking card has been stolen/lost or is defective. Whom do I need to inform?
Please use the information button immediately on entry to contact our service staff in our service centre, which is staffed around the clock. They will ask you to provide the following information: Your name, contract number and card number. You will then be asked to take a ticket to enter. When you exit, please report again using the information button. Our service staff will meanwhile have had your personal details checked by the PMG team in the Commercial Department. The barrier will now be opened for you and your new card will be ready for you to collect from our 24-hour service office in the CityPort multi-storey car park, level 4, Binger Straße 19, 55131 Mainz.
We charge €15 for the re-issue.
My long-term parking card does not work from time to time. How can that happen?
Contact with a magnet, e.g. a clasp on a handbag, or even direct contact with a mobile 'phone can decode the magnetic strip on your long-term parking card and hence make it unreadable. Our staff in our 24-hour service centre in the CityPort multi-storey car park, level 4, Binger Straße 19, 55131 Mainz will be pleased to re-code your card.
Can I freeze my contract?
No. We apologize for any inconvenience caused but, for organizational reasons, it is not possible to freeze the contract.
Where and when can I return my long-term parking cards?
Following expiry of the contractual term and our confirmation of your termination in writing, please cut up and dispose of your long-term parking card, the reason being that each new customer receives a new card.
I require a second card. Is this possible?
Of course. Please make your request in writing, quoting your contract number, and it will then become part of the contract. In terms of the handling of the second card, we would like to draw your attention to the fact that, once you have entered using one card, you can use the second card only after exiting with the first card, i.e. the two cards cannot simultaneously be present. The charge for providing the second card is €15. The second card, like the first one, must also be entered into, in accordance with the rental agreement, with effect from the 1st or the 15th of any month and can be terminated 14 days to the end of a month.
I require a parking space for only 1-2 months; is this possible?
You can purchase a one-month ticket, but at most a 3-month ticket. The price for the monthly ticket is based on the corresponding long-term parker rate that applies in the multi-storey car park requested by you. You can obtain the monthly ticket, against cash, from our 24-hour service station in the CityPort multi-storey car park, level 4, Binger Straße 19, 55131 Mainz, telephone: 06131-238108. We wish to draw your attention to the fact that, if you lose this monthly ticket, you will not receive a replacement from us.

The ticket issued thereby enables you and up to 4 accompanying persons to travel free for 24 hours by bus and tram in the Mainz urban area.
When can I drive into the Mainz-Wiesbaden environmental zone and park there?

Where and how can I take advantage of the theatre rate?
The theatre rate is valid from 6pm to 8am on the following morning, from Monday to Saturday, in the Theatre and Kronberger Hof multi-storey car parks directly at the pay stations. In other words, as of 6pm, you go to the pay station immediately after entering one of the multi-storey car parks, press the "Theatre rate" button and insert the ticket you took into the slot. You pay the special price of €5. Cash only, please. The pay station will return the paid and time-precoded ticket to you; please store it in a safe place as, at the end of the performance in the venue of Mainz state theatre, you can now go directly to your car and exit using the ticket for which you have already paid.
Is the theatre rate in the Theatre and Kronberger Hof multi-storey car parks also valid for events on Sundays?
On Sundays, the theatre rate applies from 10am until midnight of the same day.
What do I do if the event in the state theatre already begins at 6pm, meaning that I need to enter the car park before 6pm?
Pre-coded parking tickets will then be kept at hand for you at the theatre box office or cloakroom. You exchange the car park ticket you have taken for the special price of €5 for a pre-coded ticket and can then go to your car immediately after the end of the event and exit the multi-storey car park. This applies to all city centre multi-storey car parks close to the theatre, with the exception of the Römerpassage multi-storey car park.

Please take this parking voucher, after your visit to the swimming pool, to one of the pay stations to enable the ticket to be validated. If your parking time is within the pre-coded 6 hours, your parking charge will already have been paid by means of the €4 flat-rate payment at the swimming pool payment kiosk. If you have parked more than 6 hours, the pay station will display the parking charge that is still to be paid. The usual rate at ½-hour intervals will then apply to calculation of the parking charge in excess of 6 hours.
I see the "Parking on the house" sticker in many shops in Mainz city centre. What is that? And how and where does it work?
That is a joint promotion by the advertising association of Mainz retail trade and Parken in Mainz GmbH. If you see the "Parking on the house" sticker in a shop and shop there, this retailer will have parking vouchers at hand for you as a customer, enabling you to save parking charges. Therefore, look out for the symbol when you shop next! The vouchers, incidentally, are valid in all our multi-storey car parks, enabling you to be completely flexible. And this is how it works: you go to the pay station of the multi-storey car park in which your car is parked, with the parking time vouchers collected during your shopping expedition and the car park ticket you took on entering. You insert the ticket that you took when entering the car park into the pay station, whereupon the payment amount will be shown on the display. Now insert the parking time voucher(s) you have collected in any quantity. The charge in the amount of the parking time voucher will be credited, and you pay the remaining charge in cash at the pay station. You take the ticket that now comes out of the pay station slot to your car and exit the multi-storey car park.
No payment of any residual credit is possible.
I like going to the all-day-shopping Sundays in Mainz. The PMG flat-rate parking for €5 = 24 hours applies here. How does it work?
Flat-rate parking on all-day-shopping Sundays means: after 3 hours' parking, the all-day-shopping Sunday flat-rate tariff is triggered: €5 = 24 hours. If you park for less than 3 hours, you pay the usual rate at ½ hour intervals. The flat rate applies from 8am of the all-day-shopping Sunday until 8am of the following Monday. And it applies in all PMG city centre multi-storey car parks. This allows you to take your time for an exceptional shopping expedition in Mainz. You can find information on the city centre multi-storey car parks in which the flat-rate tariff applies 2 weeks before the respective all-day-shopping Sunday at www.parken-in-mainz.de.

Once you have confirmed our offer, you will receive car park tickets; please forward these to the participants of your event to ensure that the tickets are used when entering the car park. This is the only way to ensure that the reservation is utilized. If it is not possible for you to send the car park tickets to the participants of your event, the tickets can also be issued by your own staff at the entrance. We will charge you the costs of staff provided by us in accordance with a relevant quotation.

I would like to give my private guests/ customers parking time. How can I do so?

What are parent & child parking bays? How much does it cost to use them? Which multi-storey car parks have parent & child parking bays?
Parent & child parking bays are parking spaces with wider markings. They always have a preferential position close to a lift.

I am going on a business trip and am travelling by rail. Where can I park at low cost at the main railway station?
If you park in the CityPort multi-storey car park with direct access to Mainz main railway station west, and your onward journey with Deutsche Bahn is a minimum distance of 100 km, take advantage of the park & rail ticket. In other words, by purchasing your train ticket, you pay for the parking space at the same time by acquiring a park & rail ticket. Please immediately ask for a receipt to be issued.
The price is then €10.50 a day (= 24 hours) on weekdays (Monday to Friday) and likewise €10.50 in total for both days at the weekend (Saturday and Sunday).
The process is handled in the CityPort multi-storey car park as follows: Take a ticket at the entrance; please do not use an EC or credit card to enter. After completing your journey, take the car park ticket and the park & rail ticket you bought together with the train ticket from Deutsche Bahn to our 24-hour service centre on level 4 of the CityPort multi-storey car park and submit both tickets there. Online tickets, even on smart phones, will, of course, also be accepted as proof. You will then be given an exit ticket by the service member of staff.
I have a BahnCard and/or a JahresCard comfort. Can I use it to make parking savings?
Yes, in the CityPort multi-storey car park at Mainz main railway station and in the CineStar multi-storey car park at Mainz south railway station = "Römisches Theater" S-Bahn stop. Instead of the daily rate of €20.50, you pay only €10.50 for 24 hours' parking with a BahnCard. And this is how you take advantage of the savings rate: Take a ticket when you enter the multi-storey car park. On returning from your rail journey, first insert the ticket you have taken into the pay station's "Ticket" slot and insert your BahnCard or JahresCard comfort into the slot afterwards. Now use the Yes/No button to decide whether you would like a receipt after paying. The pay station's display will now show the reduced amount that you need to pay in cash. It is not possible to pay by EC or credit card. Please now withdraw your paid ticket, your Bahn or JahresCard comfort, your receipt and any change.
If the usual parking price is lower than the discounted 24-hour price, the lower price will be charged.
Reserved parking spaces are available for bahncomfort customers on levels 3 and 5 of the CityPort multi-storey car park close to the main pedestrian exit to the main railway station. Reservations are made via Deutsche Bahn. PMG will hold the reserved parking spaces until 60 minutes after commencement of the reservation.
I am a bahn.comfort customer. Can I reserve a parking space in advance with PMG?
Yes. Reserved parking spaces are available for bahn.comfort customers on levels 3 and 5 of the CityPort multi-storey car park close to the main pedestrian exit to the main railway station. Reservations are made via Deutsche Bahn. PMG will hold the reserved parking spaces until 60 minutes after commencement of the reservation.
I like going to the cinema. Is there a car park cinema rate for the CineStar cinema complex in Mainz and, if so, which car park offers it?
Yes. As a visitor to the CineStar in Mainz, you pay a parking charge of only €2.50 for 5 hours' parking in the CineStar and Römisches Theater multi-storey car parks. You pay for the car park ticket you have taken at the cinema box office, where it is pre-coded to 5 hours after your entry, thereby enabling you to go to your car and exit immediately after the film experience. If, after the film, you would like to stop at one of the surrounding cosy wine taverns or chic bistros in Mainz's old town and therefore park your car at the CineStar or Römisches Theater multi-storey car park for longer than the pre-coded 5 hours paid for by means of the €2.50 parking charge, that's not a problem. After returning to the multi-storey car park, simply insert the ticket you purchased at the cinema into the pay station and the parking period in excess of the 5 hours will be calculated and displayed at the usual half-hour intervals. You can pay for them at the pay station or directly at the exit using your EC card.
Sunday is family cinema day. On Sundays, you pay a parking charge of only €2 for 5 hours' parking.
